CALL TO ACTION

The water community was pleased to see the effort to put the public trust initiatives 3 & 45 on the 2012 ballot stop.  However, proponents of the public trust doctrine have publically said that they have every intention of coming forward with new proposals for the 2014 ballot.  Colorado’s Water Future was established to oppose the public trust initiatives this year, but we want to now focus on educational efforts.  We are asking that all water stakeholders join the effort to create an educational campaign to education Colorado citizen’s on Colorado water issues.  We understand that there are other groups out there who are also focused on water education and we want to coordinate efforts with them as well.  The fact that the proponents were able to get Initiatives 3 & 45 to the signature gathering stage this year is very concerning – they now know the recipe to get the issue on the ballot.  All it will take is like-minded groups to agree to raise money for their effort and we will most assuredly see public trust on the ballot.  Efforts to educate voters on the subject through a ballot campaign will be difficult and now is the time to start that process.

Please join us on Monday, July 30 at 1:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at

Colorado Farm Bureau

9177 E. Mineral Circle, Centennial, CO  80112.
